Water-Based Glazes
Since
the introduction of our line of fine water-based clears, many customers
have asked when we would begin the production of glazes that are compatible
with our clear coats for use in furniture construction and restoration.
We studied this application for several years and found that one of the
most troubling hurdles to overcome for water-based glazing compounds is
maintaining a workable open time so that the medium can be manipulated
by the finisher within a reasonable time frame. We continued to work on
this problem and felt that we had a solid grasp on the open-time problem.
Then came along Golden Artists Colors. Upon testing their pre-colored
glazes, we determined that the creative staff at Golden had the problem
of open time well under control. Rather then reinvent the wheel, we have
decided to add the Golden Glazes to our growing line of water-based systems
for use with all of our products. The Golden Artists Glazes are 100% compatible
with all of our fine top coats and help to complete a unique package of
concentrated dyes, sealers and finishes for all of your fine finishing
needs. We are proud to offer the Golden products to our customers.
Originally formulated for fine arts applications, the Golden Glazes dovetail
nicely into furniture applications. Golden Glazes are formulated from
Golden acrylic colors and their clear glaze compound to create a thin,
slower drying glaze application. The inherent transparent nature of the
Golden colors allows the finisher to blend and move the glazes with ease,
for a more accurate color transition, without bogging down due to the
short working window commonly found in other water-based glazing compounds.
Golden Glazes can be extended with either the Golden Retarder (#3580-8) or with our Target SA5 Retarder to help kick the open time of the
glaze even further out for better handling on large projects.
We are offering the Golden Glazes in two formats, Pre-Colored or in a
Clear Base. This line up includes:
