Why I Do it

While in our nation's capital recently, I experienced one of the proudest moments in my career. I was given the opportunity to demonstrate the versatility of the Oxford Premium Spray Lacquer to the Furniture Resource Center for the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC. This department oversees the restoration and refinishing of an estimated 6,000 pieces of furniture and wood components for all House members, staff and support services. Pieces ranging from the Speaker's lectern, to the mahogany coffee settees and press room conference tables are repaired and refinished to maintain a level of respect and continuity within the great halls of our government. Oxford Premium Spray Lacquer has been approved by the Chief Administrators Office as the finish of choice for this important task.

The reasons for choosing the PSL are many. House finishing manager, Larry Carter, felt that the PSL provides a unique blend of function and performance not found in any other water-based spray lacquer. "The 100% burn-in, clarity and depth-of-image really sets the Oxford PSL apart from other brands," says Mr. Carter. By switching to the Oxford PSL, the department has reduced costs, saving taxpayer money and improving productivity for the busy finishing crews.

Another important feature behind the Oxford Premium Spray Lacquer is its ability to be polished to a deep, high gloss within a limited time frame. I was proud to demonstrate the process of leveling the PSL with Mirka Royal Micro 600, moving up to Mirka Abralon 1200 and 2000 grit disks, then finishing off with Menzerna 2L and PO91E Polishing Compounds to leave a deep, wet-look gloss worthy for presentation to any United States Representative. This procedure took less then one hour when demonstrated on a 5 foot coffee table destined for a representative's office.
