SPRING 2002 From Jeff Weiss, Director

April marks the one-year anniversary of the official launching of our FinishingZone e-Commerce site. The acceptance of our site is evident by the growing number of repeat orders from customers who enjoy the convenience of purchasing based on their requirements and schedule, regardless of the time or location. Through the FinishingZone, we receive daily feedback from customers who use our products and report to us with their questions, and stories of successes and failures. With this information, we have been able to fine-tune and adjust not only our products, but also our complete mode of operations based on customer requirements. We are aware of the rather frustrating aspects of the site, such as the Guest vs. Password options, which we are in the process of reengineering to ensure easier access and easier order placement by all visitors. It is through these trial and error methods that we as a company have grown, both in our marketing skills and product development. So, with this in mind, and with the early acceptance of the FinishingZone used as a benchmark, we feel comfortable to call the entire experiment a success.

Along with our site improvements come several exciting new products that will continue to broaden the reach of waterborne coatings into traditional applications. We have been working with a broad spectrum of traditional finishing products such as hybridized linseed oil and a blend of water-reducible dewaxed shellac sealers specially formulated by Target to bring these traditional finishes into a safer, more modern method of use and application. These exciting new products incorporate our exclusive Emulsion Technology Hybridization Chemistries®, and have been developed and tested to bring together the old-world approach to furniture construction and restoration with the convenience and durability of modern waterborne coatings. With the addition of our shellac and linseed oil systems, we are extending our Sable-Lite brush line to include new models that will ease and enhance the use of our products during brush applications. Lastly, with these newcomers, we are also expanding our current brands by offering a wider array of TransTint colors by Homestead Finishing Products, as well as additions to our Mirka Abrasives line.

So there you have it. Spring brings new opportunities, new products and a new way for us to work and grow together.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Jeff Weiss
