URETHANE TOP COAT
MPI Listing Numbers:
Exterior: MPI-193, MPI-194
Interior: MPI-128, MPI-181
The FIRST waterborne exterior grade clear coat to be approved by Master Painters Institute (MPI), Target EmTech 9300 is a non-yellowing water based polycarbonate urethane coating engineered to provide exceptional adhesion to wood and engineered wood-type substrates. Formulated as a final topcoat for high-end applications such as exterior architectural woodwork, structural fixtures and applications that requires a flexible coating in high UV exposure environments. Formulated with state-of-the-art biocides, UV control agents and polycarbonate resins, EmTech 9300 offers excellent chemical resistance, weather-ability and UV stability when exposed to direct sunlight. When used in conjunction with Target EmTech 8800 Universal Sealer a polyester-type fill and build can be achieved.
The clarity and depth-of-image of the EmTech 9300 is exceptional. When reduced with distilled water EM9300 can be used as a penetrating sealer. EM9300 can also be tinted with water based universal oxide colorants for use as a exterior grade stain system.
EmTech 9300 Polycarbonate Urethane is available in Gloss (90°), Semi-Gloss (65°), Satin (35°) and Flat (10°) sheens.

Target Coatings EM9330 Satin Polycarbonate Urethane Exterior Wood Finish
500-Hour QUV Test Results
The following information represents QUV Machine UV/Water Condensation Testing of the Target EM9300 Polycarbonate Urethane Wood Finish in a satin format over a 500-hour machine exposure period.
Panel Preparation
Three coats of the EM9330 under test were applied using a 6 –mil gap application bar on 3" ´ 6" pine wood panels. The side of the panels to be varnished was sanded using a 180–grit sand paper. Panels were then placed in oven at slightly above 100° C for 30 – 45 minutes to remove any water present. Each coat was allowed to dry for 24 hours before the application of the next coat. A 320–grit sand paper was used to sand between coats. After the application of the third coat, panels were allowed to dry for 7 days. At the conclusion of the drying period, panels were placed in the accelerated weathering QUV machine for 500 hours.
