| I have a new unfinished alder entry door that I will be finishing. I would like to use a darker color stain. Does target offer small samples? Aside from the stain I was looking for a finishing schedule for the door using the target products. Thanks in advance. |

We can set you up with a sample kit of our stain colors. You will have to call the order into our office during business hours and you will have to speak to a rep.
As for a schedule for alder: Blotching can be a problem with alder, but it tends to be a rustic look that some people like. Make a set of samples with the chosen color that features the alder stained with and without a pre-stain sealer (ask for our EM1000 Sealer and Universal Color Vehicle), follow the directions for pre-sealing and then apply the stain. On the other side of the panel use the stain directly without a pre-seal. Once you have the stain figured out I recommend that you consider our EM2000wvx WB/Alkyd Varnish in the sheen level of your choice. This varnish is very popular in the Rockie Mnt states and is being used many painting contractors as a window/door/trim varnish.
