Sand to 220
HSF Grain filler
Walnut colored oil base wood filler for any larger voids
Sand to 400
Boiled Linseed Oil (week or so to dry)
Wipe down with Denatured Alcohol
2 coats of Blonde Shellac with Reddish-Brown Transtint
3 coats of Gloss EM6000
Sand with 600 grit to a semi-gloss sheen
I am looking for that walnut finish with that reddish glow. Thought about using a ruby shellac instead of the transtint. Also wasn't 100% sure when would be the best time for the wood fill putty, before the BLO or after. I have 2 large blanket chests to finish and there are a few chips missing here and there that need filled. Anyone have a favorite brand of wood filler (not pore filler)? Any other ideas? Thanks,
Jim |

Everything reads OK. However, you may want to consider our Golden Red shellac version, USH33xx, directly onto the walnut substrate instead of the BLO. This color version has a very nice effect in various walnuts and removes the gray-tones common to walnut finished with WB's. Lastly, sanding w/600 will create a sheen lower then semi-gloss. Instead, use a 1000-grit Abralon pad, or, shoot directly with our semi-gloss version of the EM6000.

What type/brand wood filler would you recommend for filling bigger holes? Looking for something that would blend well in color with the walnut. Thanks,
