HSF5100 Primer/Surfacer/Filler Part #5100, 5200, 5300
EMTECH HSF5000 is a waterborne high solids primer, surfacer and filler specifically formulated to be used on MDF, open grained hardwoods and engineered veneer to help provide a smooth, non-textured appearance to the base substrate. HSF5000PSF is available in a neutral color base for bright wood finishing, or in pigmented primer white or primer grey bases for use underneath pigmented topcoats. The use of HSF5000PSF reduces the total number of intermediate sealer and topcoat applications required to obtain a non-textured highbuild finish. HSF5000PSF can be cross-linked with our CL100 Crosslinker to provide increased sub-level hardness and adhesion when used on difficult to finish substrates.

| 1. | Prepare surface by sanding with 220-grit sandpaper. Remove all dust, oil and solvent from the surface. Apply pre-seal systems, sealers, stains or dyes (if desired) prior to PSF if required. HSF5000 Neutral Base can be tinted with water-soluble dyes or UTC pigments to create a matching or reverse ground color to accent/enhance or match the negative grain element of the substrate being finished. |
| 2. | Spray, roll or brush apply HSF5000PSF onto prepared substrate. Apply HSF5000 at 2-4mils wet film thickness per coat. Allow each coat to open-air dry for a minimum of 1 hour. Forced-air heat drying may also be used to speed up production sanding and recoating. Sand each coat of pigmented HSF5000 with 400-grit sandpaper to remove surface defects. Sand Neutral HSF5000 with 320-grit sandpaper to fully remove neutral filler if being used as a negative grain filler/enhancer. An average of two pigmented coats is sufficient for MDF. Open-grain hardwoods may require additional applications. |
