EM9300 Polycarbonate Urethane:
Exterior Durability with Fine Finish Results
Target Coatings EM9300 Waterborne Polycarbonate Urethane is a water-clear, non-yellowing urethane coating engineered to provide exceptional adhesion to wood, non-ferrous metal, fiberglass, stone, cement and carbon fiber substrates. Formulated as a final topcoat for high-end applications such as exterior structural architectural woodwork, beams and window/door packages and applications that require a hard yet flexible coating in high UV exposure environments. EM9300 contains UV reflectors for a finish that is resistant to sun exposure that can cause graying or fading. EM9300 water based exterior urethane offers excellent water resistance during vertical water exposures.
Tinting EM9300 Water-Based Urethane: EM9300 can be tinted with water-soluble universal colorant such as Benjamin Moore Gennex®, Sansin Eco-Tone® and Accurate Dispersion GeoShades®. Do not exceed more then 5% by liquid volume tint load into the clear base.
EM9300 Polycarbonate Urethane can be fortified with our CL100 Cross-Linker for use in interior applications only. We do not recommend the use of CL100 in EM9300 water based exterior urethane for long-term exterior exposure applications. Consult with Target Coatings technical support for more information regarding the use of CL100 in EM9300.
EM9300 Waterborne Polycarbonate Urethane can be applied by brush, roller or spray method. For clean up, simply use fresh, warm water.

This stuff is a miracle. It basically has it all and it works just as well as described. I’ve varnished a chair and a bench with it so far and they’re both beautiful and hold up very well to people getting on and off them all the time. I would highly recommend this product.

If ever there was/is a one finish that does it all, this is it. Sure, its water clear but with proper tinting, either with a concentrated dye mixed in or the USH3000 underneath, the result is amazing. Sprays like a dream with perfect leveling and vertical hold in almost any condition. More than many other professional products I’ve used. I’ve stopped using everything else from Target Coatings, not because they aren’t great, but because the Polycarbonate Urethane does everything I need. From kitchen cabinets, vanities, table tops, exterior trim and overcoating any painted surface. Never had a failure or call back with it. Nuff said. Thanks Jeff.

I’ve been using this exclusively for several years. I manufacture a portable workbench and use this on the work surface. It’s extremely durable and easy to apply. I use the flat sheen and am able to very effectively roll it on in thick initial coats, which level almost unbelievably well, and then spray the final coat. I’ve also used it on cedar deck railings and it stands up to the Colorado UV and harsh weather as well as anything I could ask for.

Just used the EM 9300 (Satin) on a high end indoor custom furniture project. Shot it over an oil based semi-transparent wiping stain (Cabot). Followed Jeff’s advice to let the stain dry thoroughly then wipe down with 50/50 DA/H2O ahead of shooting the 9300 tack-coat. Shot the tack coat, waiting 20 minutes, shot a wet-coat. 24 hour wait…light sand with P220, then one wet coat…absolutely flawless. Great product…like others have mentioned, I can’t see much reason to return to other Target Coatings finishes that I’ve used successfully for years…9300 is a gem. Highly recommended.

I used Emtech as a top coat on a teardrop trailer I built in 2009 as a UV protection layer for the epoxy/glass underneath. After 12 years of desert sun, wind, rain, and snow it still looks like it did when I first applied it. I have never seen anything like it.

Love how this sprayed and brushed with a foam brush. Spray laid down nice and level out. No sag on side spray and nice quick dry and water clear. I refinish furniture and don’t like to use low end top coats and the one I like had been back order for over 8 months needed to find something equal and this worked perfect. I used on a nightstand set and buffet.

Have to admit I was skeptical at first because this product sounded too good to be true. I needed something to replace the typical oil based spar product that a new customer’s previous painter had convinced them they were stuck with using on their $6000 fiberglass doors. Year after year these things were taking an extreme beating from the northern Illinois summer sun/heat and wet frigid winters. After stripping back to bare surfaces and gel staining the doors, I gave them a tack wipe with denatured after proper flash off of solvents. From there I built coats to about 4 or 5 and these doors still look brand new almost 2 years later which is insane because they face west with no shade cover. Great product. My go to for exteriors now.
