There is an old saying in the paint and coatings industry that goes, “House Painters are not Fine Finishers, and Fine Finishers are not House Painters.” For years I tended to believe this basic, somewhat two-edged sword of an observation. Painting and wood finishing are two different skill sets, and require long apprenticeships to gain the technical and intuitive knowledge to perform these very different tasks proficiently. However, through the years I have met several contracting companies that offer both services with equal – and exceptional – levels of skill and performance. I first met the Sundeleaf spray shop team several years ago while making sales calls with the Portland area sales representative from Miller Paint. At that time, I observed that Sundeleaf not only provides on-site services, but also features a custom finishing shop to perform off-site paint and brightwork services in their well-lit spray booth. Here a team of custom finishers construct, repair and finish fine furniture, architectural components, and custom-made objects of all types and dimensions.
Whether they are using our EM6500 Pigmented Lacquer on new construction and restoration pieces, or the EM9300 Polycarbonate Urethane, which the creative team at Sundaleaf has put into service on a wide array of interior and exterior applications ranging from commercial bar-tops, kitchen cabinet components and soon-to-be exterior door and window applications – the final finish is beautifully executed and delivered with pride.
